And guess who has blog candy?? ME!! So if you want a chance to win Blog Candy from me, just leave me a comment and let me know who your favorite Halloween monster is. Mine is Dracula! As I’m sure you can tell from my first card! (I’ll pick the winner by Random Generator on Thursday morning.)

Fang 2 crop

I think the bat in this image is supposed to be named “Fang”, but I thought it was a cute nickname for this little blood-sucker! Vampires seem to be the “in” monster right now, with the popularity of science fiction novels and series starring them! I’ve finished the Twilight series (Stephenie Meyers) and the Southern Vampire series (Charlaine Harris), and will begin the Dark Prince series (Christine Feehan) soon. I just can’t seem to get enough!

Now on to the card.

Fang 2 RN

I’ve used a piece of copper sheeting for the scalloped layer, which was run through the Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots folder first, then with the scalloped circle Nestabilities die.

Fang 2 close up

I also used a Cuttlebug tiny tags die for the little name tag.

The copper piece at the bottom was punched with a Fiskars threading water punch. I wondered how hard the copper would be to work with, but it was a breeze! Here’s a close up: (you can click to see it larger)

The image layer and the bat and trick-or-treat sack are all popped up with foam mounting tape.

All the coloring was done with Copic markers.

JACKSONBELLE EMBELLISHMENTS – JBE022

~~~
Cocktails crop
See, I told you I had some fun images today! I just love these little chickens (or roosters? or hens?). Actually I’m going to call them Gamecocks, since the University of South Carolina’s mascot is the Gamecock and the school colors are Garnet and Black. Both of my sisters graduated from there, so they’ll probably have to duel it out for this card.
I thought it might be a little tedious to color such a small image (i.e. the tiny lines in the tail feathers), but it really was a lot of fun. I had fun creating the chicken scratch (or could it be something else?) too!
Cocktails JBE
I used Copic markers to color in this image as well.
    I find the vampire card very funny. I am deeply engrossed in the Stepenie Meyers books right now and have looked at vampires differently ever since. The chicken card is just too cute, love the colors!
  2. Melanie says:
    Love your fun Hallowe’en Dracula card!!!! My favorite monster is the mummy!
  3. Gigi says:
    I bought the Drac stamp about a month ago; couldn’t wait to use it for two grandsons. Added some of those crazy google eyeballs to the glasses for a goofy look. You did a great job coloring the image and if I use the image again this month, will definitely try using your shading techniques. Have seen the chicken images used before and really like them. I have some of the same paper but never thought to use it in a humorous way; may have to break down and buy those images.
    Your Dracula card is wonderful! Dracula may be my favorite monster as well, partly because my husband once played Dracula in our Community Theatre production. My children always liked the Sesame Street “Count” too. The image I use the most on my Halloween cards, however, is the black cat as I am also a cat lover. Halloween is fun! Thank you for sharing your creativity and for the chance to win!
