Color Throwdown – Week 10 – a special week
This is a very special week at the Color Throwdown blog. It’s our 10th week (WOW!).
But tomorrow is also the anniversary of the tragic losses we all as Americans felt 7 years ago when our country experienced a horrendous terrorist attack. We’d like to take this opportunity to honor all the people who lost their lives, their families, and the brave firefighters, rescue workers, and citizens who gave of themselves to help others during that tragic time. Please take a moment this week to remember them.

This week Cathy has chosen to use red, white, and blue as the Color Throwdown challenge colors. ANY red, white and blue.
I don’t have a lot of patriotic stamps, or patriotic designer paper either, so I kind of started from scratch. I decided to make my own background paper. I started with a piece of white cardstock and using a torn piece of copy paper to delineate the colors, I applied Ranger Distress Fired Brick ink with my ink blending tool to the lower right side of my cardstock. Then I applied the Broken China ink to the upper left side. While these colors were still moist, I spritzed my large star from the Stampin’ Up! Artifacts stamp set with water and stamped it a couple of times on my colored cardstock. Then I used my heat gun to dry the stamped images. The water lifted a little of the color from the cardstock leaving a fainter image of the star.
I used a couple of trimmed edges for the strips at the top and bottom and another scrap to stamp the sentiment on. Both the sentiment (from Studio G) and the Little Boys Blue from The Queen’s Dresser Drawers were stamped in Ranger Distress Faded Jeans ink. The star brad was a very shiny silver so I colored it with my R27 Copic marker.
We’d love for you to play along with us. Just use keyword CTD10 and directly link your card to today’s post on the Color Throwdown blog.
Also, please stop by the other designers’ blogs to see their patriotic creations:
Thank you for visiting my blog today! I hope you’ll come back soon and often!

Broni, I love love love this image, but had trouble finding the particular stamp on the Queens Dresser website. Where did you get it? I love vintage images and this would be great for all the sailors in my family!
