March Dirty Girls Challenge

Old Garden crop 2

This month’s Dirty Girls challenge on Splitcoast was to create a card using one of your oldest stamp sets, and embellishments and supplies that you’ve had for what seems like forever (at least 6 months).

Well, this definitely was a challenge for me.  I didn’t decide which stamp set to use until yesterday and didn’t even start making the card until 10:00 p.m. last night.  I went through several different layouts and backgrounds for the vellum layer before finally deciding on this one.  I quickly finished it up around midnight because I just couldn’t stay awake any longer.

So, I’m not very satisfied with the results, but it will have to do.  Sometimes things just don’t come together the way you’d like.

The flowers were stamped on vellum cardstock with craft ink and I drew the stems in with my always artichoke marker.  There are 3 layers to the largest flower.  I scored down the middle of each petal of the top layer with my bone folder and then added the beads to the center with a small piece of sticky strip.

The corner treatments, the small sweet sentiment strip and the striped background paper are all from the Stampin’ Up! Just Delightful Simply Scrapping kit that I’ve had forever and have only used pieces of once.

The velvet ribbon is from the old Sherbet Ribbon Originals package.  I’m not sure if you can see it, but I stamped the Canvas background stamp in always artichoke on the artichoke cardbase at an angle.  That’s it for this card.

If you’d like to see all the other creations (which I’m sure are spectacular!), just click on this link:  DCON308

And come to think of it, I may know why this card was so hard for me to get excited about.  Why would I want to use an old stamp set when I have a box full of brand new SU stamps that haven’t even been inked yet??  Can someone please tell me how to fit more than 24 hours into a day??  LOL!

One other stipulation of this challenge was to put the card you make into the mail today to another current or alumni DD girl as a RAK.  Hmmm.  How in the world do you decide among all the wonderful ladies in this group??  What a dilemma!

Thanks for visiting today and letting me ramble on!!

Thanks…..Broni
