Splashes of Watercolor

This card is for the color challenge CC157 on Splitcoaststampers this week – to use basic black, basic gray and purely pomegranate. What a sophisticated and rich color combination!

This card will be going to my sister and brother-in-law. Their anniversary is this month and they just won 4th place (non-pro division) in the national shag competition in North Myrtle Beach this past weekend! {Yay, Dede and Jeff!}

The stamp is from The Queen’s Dresser Drawers. (Isn’t that the greatest name??) This company first came to my attention when I noticed this great card by Dashwood on SCS. They have these really cool nostalgic collage type stamps.

The image is stamped on vellum cardstock and colored on the back with Copic markers R39, C7 and 100. The pomegranate layer is stamped with the Linen background stamp from Stampin’ Up! and the edges are sponged. I used the textile folder to emboss the basic gray layer. After creating the black frame using rectangle Nestabilities, I decided that it needed to be tilted just a little. The flowers are colored with the same Copic markers and I added Swarovski crystals as the centers. And I just love that wide pomegranate satin ribbon!
