Heart Curls – Inspiration challenge

Published by at 3:01 pm under Card Designs,Challenges,Rubbernecker

I made this card for the inspiration challenge at SCS – IC113.  What a cool living room!  I love all the tone-on-tone.  I’ve always found  a combination of neutral tones to be very soothing.

The heart was stamped in Versamark on sahara sand cardstock and embossed with vanilla EP.  Then I colored in some of the swirls with my waterbrush and white craft ink.  The heart was cut out and embossed then matted on a piece of shimmery white cardstock, which was also cut with Nestabilities rectangle dies.

The sentiment was stamped on the patterned paper with sahara sand ink.  After attaching the patterned paper to the sahara sand card base I wrapped a wide organdy ribbon around the card and tied it in a bow.  The scalloped rectangle is up on mounting tape.

ANOTHER CARD – SAME IMAGES, DIFFERENT STYLE:

On this card I used the same images as on the tone-on-tone card, but completely different colors and a different style.

I embossed the heart in silver EP on textured red cardstock, then cut it out with scallop scissors.  I colored the scallops with my Krylon silver leaf pen, colored over that (after it dried) with my black Copic marker, then colored it again with the silver leaf pen leaving just a hint of black showing around the heart.  This gives a little depth to the heart.

I sponged around the edges of both of the white layers with Ranger Distress ink in fired brick and my Inkssentials foam blending tool.  The sentiment was stamped in Versafine Onyx Black ink on the white textured paper and again on a scrap of the red textured paper.  I cut the heart shaped O out of the red and attached it on top of the white layer with a tiny piece of mounting tape.

I outlined the black square piece of cardstock with the Krylon silver leaf pen, then attached the heart to that with mounting tape.  The black square is also raised up on mounting tape.  Finally I used glue dots to attach a few flame colored Dew Drops on top of the black ribbon.
