Featured Stamper Card – Starry Eyed

Published by at 10:25 am under Card Designs,Challenges,Copic markers,Rubbernecker

In the last month or so I’ve been trying to browse the Featured Stamper’s gallery each week and attempt to CASE one of the cards.  This week the stamper that Beth chose is Veronica (I’mVeronica on SCS).  Here is her card that inspired me: Rhinestone Snow Burst.

My inspiration started with a single image, ribbon on the left and sentiment on the right.  And I also loved the bling she incorporated.  My changes were to use circles instead of squares for the image and mat.  I also decided to place the circles off-center to add some interest.  The sentiment I chose wouldn’t fit on a tab, so it’s stamped on the card front.  I used a glittery star instead of the rhinestones that Veronica used to get that bling factor that was so cool on her card.

I stamped the girl image – Starry Eyed from Rubbernecker – on white cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black, colored her with Copic markers, and highlighted the outside of the circle, the butterfly, and the stars with gelly roll glaze and metallic markers.  I cut the image layer into a circle with my Coluzzle and also cut a yellow patterned paper mat one size larger. I then attached the image to the yellow, placing it off-center to the left.I layered the blue patterned paper on the same yellow used for the image mat.  Then I taped the 2 ribbon strips on the back and again on the front where it would be hidden under the image layer.  I stamped the sentiment on the blue layer.  And what a great sentiment!  It says “Sing in the Rain, Dance in the Sun, Dream by the Light of the Moon.” I love that! These layers were then added to the white card base.I mounted the image circle layers to the card with mounting tape to give it more dimension. Now for the star… I coated a Heidi Swapp ghost shape star with Martha Stewart glittering glue, which I DID NOT realize would come out of the bottle in a great big glob!  It was my first time using it, obviously!  Then I generously sprinkled  Martha Stewart Blue Topaz glitter on.  Very generously, because I kept shaking the bottle trying to get it to come out (also my first attempt at using this), not realizing that there was a plastic cover inside the cap, until I twisted the cap off while holding the bottle sideways.  I’m just telling you guys this, hoping somebody may learn from my mistake(s)!  Oh, and then I carefully used some more MS glittering glue to attach the star to the card.

Thanks for visiting me today!  Please come back soon!
